Fire Test Pipe Wraps Header

Pyroplex continues to extend its portfolio of test evidence for the CE Marked 200 Series Pipe Wraps. The expansion of the range of pipe materials and varying pipe sizes that were tested last night, allow us to broaden our portfolio of CE Marked 200 Series Pipe Wraps. This more comprehensive range that has been tested with different pipe sizes and pipe materials will open up our scope in European Markets, where there is the demand for different pipe materials and pipe sizes.

Most buildings incorporate walls and floors, which have the function of; either compartmenting the building to restrict the uncontrolled spread of a fully developed fire, or to provide protection to those escape routes needed for evacuation of personnel in the event of a fire. These walls and floors may also need to be penetrated by essential service pipes for the building, so fire stopping products like pipe wraps will need to be put in place around these penetrations to ensure that these walls and floors still restrict the spread of fire through the building, reinstating the fire resistance of the building’s walls and floors that contain these service pipes.

Pyroplex commissioned Exova Warrington to undertake a full scale fire resistance test in accordance with EN1366-3. The specimen consisted of a floor slab containing 16 multiple penetrations which were all fire stopped using the Pyroplex® CE Marked 200 Series Pipe Wraps.

The test undertaken on the evening of Tuesday 20th June 2017 was a complete success achieving 120 minutes fire performance. The pipe penetrations consisted of a range of varying pipe materials ranging from Polyethylene, Polypropylene, PVC-u, and including acoustic composite pipes supplied by Rehau and Wavin.

The Pyroplex ETA for CE Marked 200 Series Pipe Wraps will be upgraded to include the new test.
