Understanding the importance of trade associations in developing high standards for the industry, Pyroplex has been a long-standing member of the Architectural and Specialist Door Manufacturers Association (ASDMA), given the company’s focus on manufacturing and supplying fire door sealing systems and intumescent strips suitable for both timber and metal fire doors.

ASDMA was formed in 1990 and has expanded significantly in membership and areas of operation since its launch. With members now including suppliers of hardware, seals and glazing, in addition to UKAS accredited test houses, the main purpose of the association is to promote best practice in the manufacture and supply of bespoke timber doors and door sets.

Constantly collaborating with accredited test houses worldwide and with direct access to many European technical committees via Technical Manager, Andy Walsh, Pyroplex is well-placed to add value to the activities of ASDMA in many ways. Indeed, Andy has recently comprehensively contributed to ASDMA Best Practice Guide, using his vast technical knowledge gained from many industry-specific qualifications coupled with his leadership of many governmental technical committees that review and develop regulatory standards. A full copy of ASDMA Best Practice Guide can be viewed here.

Acting as a knowledge centre for the benefit of both members and the wider industry, ASDMA educates and informs specifiers, fabricators, installers and other relevant parties on many critical and complex technical issues, drawing on the expertise available amongst the diverse membership across the many product categories.

Having a direct impact on the development of UK, European and even international standards of relevance to the industry, ASDMA technical representatives attend and actively participate in all stages of development, helping to make instrumental decisions that will affect the industry and all that operate in it.

Pyroplex is pleased to be closely involved with such a proactive trade association and hopes that its specialist expertise and knowledge around fire safety and fire containment can help to maintain high standards across the manufacture of fire doors.
